Plastic surgery has become increasingly popular among baby boomers. They are turning to cosmetic surgery to look youthful and remain competitive in the workplace. Facelifts, eyelid and wrinkle surgery are the most common procedures for baby boomers.

Increasing numbers of baby boomers are going under the knife to look younger.
Data from the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons shows more Australians in their 50s and 60s are turning to cosmetic surgery to look youthful and remain competitive in the workplace.

Melbourne plastic surgeon and society spokesman Howard Webster said facelifts, eyelid and wrinkle surgery were among the most common procedures for baby boomers.
Everyday Australians have been inspired to undergo radical surgery by popular television programs such as Extreme Makeover and Body Work, Mr Webster said.

But he said these often oversimplified the complex treatment involved.
Plastic surgeons are expecting an influx of patients who need skin surgery after shedding dozens of kilograms.

Quick "lunchtime procedures" such as botox injections will stay popular in 2006, Mr Webster said.
