'Plastic' Britain Goes Plastic Surgery Crazy

WOMEN in Britain underwent almost 20,000 cosmetic surgery procedures last year - a rise of more than a third on 2004.

Around 5,000 women went under the knife in the north west - with tummy tucks, facelifts and eye procedures increasing in popularity last year, according to Manchester-based Transform Medical Group.

Breast enlargement, which costs around £4,000, is the most popular operation, with 5,646 last year, according to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

The number of men having surgery rose from 1,348 to 2,440 with nose operations the most popular.

1. Nose reshaping
2. Hair transplantation
3. Eyelid surgery
4. Liposuction
5. Breast reduction

And the ASAPS indicates that the Top Five Female cosmetic surgeries of 2004 were:
1. Nose reshaping
2. Eyelid surgery
3. Liposuction
4. Breast augmentation
5. Facelifts

Minimally invasive procedures like Botox injections, chemical peels, collagen injections and microdermabrasion, were also quite popular for both men and women.
